Travel Information

Travel

  • IMPORTANT: It is best to arrive in Paris earlier in the morning and depart in late afternoon or evening.

  • Flights from the USA are a day plus. Which means flights leaving The USA on the 5th arrive on the 6th. Factor that in with any reservations.

  • Arrival to Chateau not before 2 pm.

  • Departure is at 10 am.

  • We are a scenic 3 hour journey from Paris, so arriving to Orquevaux in the early afternoon and departing in the morning we find to be the most comfortable.

  • Please fill out the Travel Form as soon as you have arranged itinerary.

If you choose not to rent a car you will need to take a taxi or UBER over to Gare de L'est train station in PARIS (60 euros) and catch a train to Chaumont (Haute-Marne) 60 euros economy. We pick up at 2 and 4pm.

"FAYE Travel Insurance’s website was initially very easy (and weirdly sort of fun, because of the imagery and language) to navigate. It is very transparent as to what is/isn’t included in the various plans. They have helpful info about how to figure out what to include in your coverage. I have found other travel insurance companies sort of alarmingly vague, with tons of insurance speak. FAYE was crystal clear and easy to grasp, which says a lot given how detailed the fine print can be….

Filing my claim was super easy. Not that it didn’t take some time, because it just does. I received an email very quickly from an actual human being who informed me that they were working on my claim and told me what else they needed from me. Once I provided that, they confirmed that my claim was in progress and gave me a window of time when it was likely to be processed. They did in fact process it in that time frame. After that step, FAYE was also very clear about how long the funds might take to land in my account (via ACH transfer/deposit). The funds actually landed faster than they had estimated.

I hope to meet you all in the future."

I hope this helps.

Flight

  • Our best experience has been flying from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport in New York to Charles du Gaulle (CDG) Airport in Paris.

  • We recommend finding a flight that will arrive to Paris in the morning. and booking a departure flight in late afternoon. The Chateau is 3 hours from airport and we would like you to try to arrive for The Welcome reception around 5 pm.

  • Please be aware of flight times and factor travel time to the airport.

  • If your flight leaves Charles du Gaulle (CDG) at 10 a.m. you will need to leave Chateau Orquevaux around 4:30 a.m.

  • We recommend booking departing flights for afternoon to early evening.

  •      CDG - 3 hours from Orquevaux.

  •      ORLY Airport - 3.5 hours distance.

  •      GENEVA Airport - 4 hours distance.

Transportation

  • Car rental at Charles du Gaulle Airport is very easy. We usually book it in advance. Every car rental vendor is represented at the airport. AFTER BAGGAGE PICKUP GO OUT DOOR AND MAKE A LEFT. Walk to end. Look for signs like pictures below

  • If you don't own a GPS with French/European map - RENT A CAR WITH GPS. Do not rely on phone.

  • Make sure that before you are on your way they adjust the GPS to your language of choice.

  • Plug in Orquevaux and follow directions. We are the big house on the hill. You can't miss us.

  •  If you choose not to rent a car you will need to take a taxi or UBER over to Gare de L'est train station (40-50 euros) and catch a train to Chaumont (Haute-Marne) 40-60 euros economy. We can arrange to have you picked up.
